3D clip rendered to .gif format. I’m liking the idea of the .gif theatre more and more. The single frame illustration lives here.

Gif render test! Woot!! Really excited about this, I figured out a good workflow for saving short video clips as gifs using Photoshop. I’ll put up a tutorial on it real soon.
3D Illustrated in Cinema 4D, gif-ified in Photoshop. A render test for a stop motion cut-out character. Testing the design and animation, I used found images for the textures. More to come.

Inverse Kinematics in After Effects. Live the Dream!
When I started working with 2D character animation in AE I was really frustrated by the rigging tools. I was spoiled by inverse kinematics (it comes from robots!) and the advanced features in 3D software. I learned character rigging in Maya. That’s a fantastic space to work in. [3d joke] After Effects character rigging tools aren’t as mature as those in 3D software. There are some great projects closing the gap. If you’re ready to lose a D and try rigging in AE there is hope.
DUIK is set of character rigging tools that will look familiar to 3D folks. DUIK is free, donation worthy, has YouTube tutorials, and tutorials on the creator’s website. DuDuf is an AE artist and developer. Check his vimeo channel for prime examples of what one can create with these tools.
